You may remember some time ago there was a pretty dark fan theory floating around the interweb about Friends.
It surmised that the entire show was all a figment of Phoebe's imagination, who was actually a homeless meth addict and had concocted this vision of a life for herself filled with coffee and friends living in apartments they could never afford in real life.
Yep. People have too much time on their hands.
Anyways, just in case you had taken any notice of this rumour and had fallen into a web of dispair over your favourite sitcom, fear not, the show's co-creator Marta Kauffman laughed off the theory when she heard it, telling EW:
"That's the saddest thing I've ever heard! No, I never heard that – that's a terrible theory. That's insane! That's, like, crazy alt-television theory. Wow."
"I'm fascinated," she added. "I just think that someone needs a life. Someone needs a life, that's all I'm saying."
There you have it. Friends really was just about sitting around drinking coffee, witty one-liners, and Joey's sandwiches. Phew.
