In fairness, Freddie Prinze Jr could have quit acting after 24 and nobody really would have noticed, but he says he was pretty close to it after dealing with all the the on-set fussing of Mr Jack Bauer himself, Kiefer Sutherland.
The star was at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend and told press how miserable he was working on the show, with some choice words about Sutherland. He told ABC News; "I did 24, it was terrible. I hated every moment of it,” Freddie said. "Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That's not me talking trash, I'd say it to his face, I think everyone that's worked with him has said that."
Prinze (who is married to former Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar) played Cole Ortiz on the eight series of the show, which was a good five years ago now, but obviously he still isn't over it. He said when filming scenes with Sutherland he would have to take his shoes off as he was so much taller than him; "Just put the guy on an apple box or don't hire me next time. You know, I'm six feet and he's 5' 4"." (Kiefer is 5' 7" according to google, but why get bogged down on the details of this rant.)
He added; "I just wanted to quit the business after that," he said. "So, I just sort of stopped." Thank God he DIDN'T! Can you imagine!? The world would never have got to see... em.... oh and that other thing...nope, we've got nothing.
Kiefer Sutherland has responded to this tirade in a statement, more on that over yonder in the Celebrity section.
Suffices to say Freddie certainly didn't get the rise out of him anyway.
We're sure it's no skin off Kiefer's nose..
