As we all know, Kiefer Sutherland returned to his role as Jack Bauer last year for another series of the Fox show '24', following a four year break. The series entitled 'Live Another Day' was shorter than all that had gone before and was a nice little reminder (albeit unasked for) that Jack Bauer is fairly awesome.
But enough now.
Sutherland has already stated that he would be unlikely to return to the series, so the network Fox has said previously that it may continue on with the franchise with just the supporting cast. However, they have recently said that they are still keeping the door well and truly open for Kiefer.
Fox co-chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman told TV Insider.; "If [Sutherland] wants to, he'll be in it and it will be built around him. That would by far be our preference. I think the idea of real-time is a powerful franchise. Rebooting 24 in another way, with a different character, is actually an exciting re-imagining."
Walden went on to say however, that they were taking their time deciding how to go about it; "We don't want to rush it. There's a point Jack Bauer can come in and fit very organically in their story, but they were prepared to do something that would be the one installment without Jack Bauer."
What do we think? They need to stop flogging this dead horse. They need to admit that it is OVER. We know it. Kiefer Sutherland knows it.
However, we all know what will happen if the right offer is put on the table....
It's okay Kiefer, we understand.
