According to The Mirror, the former Top Gear presenters have a clause in their contract which means that they have to wait at least two years before launching another motoring show on British TV.
Regardless, Netflix were thought to be the front runners for obtaining the services of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond and obviously that's not traditional network television.
The trio were thought to be in negotiations with ITV, but while they could front a show for the station, it can't be a motoring one - until April 2017.
Chris Evans will probably be delighted with the news, as it gives him a chance to kickstart his own time in the presenter's chair... they just need some co-hosts first.
Clarkson, May and Hammond are currently touring the world with their live show, which reinforces that they are a global brand - hence the interest from Netflix. That finishes in November at the 02 Arena in London.
