Sad news this morning, as it has been revealed that Australian actor Ben Unwin has died. He was 41.

Ben Unwin was best known for playing the role of rabble-rousing Jesse McGregor on the soap from 1996 - 2000, and again from 2002 - 2005. He had not acted in any major TV or film roles since leaving the soap, instead attaining a law degree and working as a solicitor.

While his cause of death is currently unknown, police in New South Wales released a statement saying that it was not being treated as suspicious.

"Police attended Minyon Falls, Whian Whian, responding to a concern for welfare," it read. ‘The body of a 41-year-old man was located. The death has not been treated as suspicious."

Channel 7, the makers of 'Home and Away', released a statement saying "Cast and crew from Home and Away are saddened to learn of the passing of former castmate, Ben Unwin. Ben’s work in the role of Jesse McGregor is remembered with much affection.

"Ben’s family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers."

Meanwhile, his former castmate Kimberley Cooper - who played his one-time love interest Gypsy Smith on the show - also paid tribute to him on Instagram.
