If you were a big fan of Skippy the bush kangaroo then you'd better hold on to you didgeridoo because Kangaroo Dundee is about to land on your TV screens and you'll quite positively implode when you see what it has to offer.
Based on a concept first brought to television in a BBC Natural World Special of the same name, the show follows Chris 'Brolga' Barnes, a man who lives alone in the Australian outback. Except he's not alone really, because he runs a kangaroo sanctuary and cares for 'joeys' (kangaroo babies for those of you who don't know) 24-hours a day.
It ain't easy looking after these young'uns though, especially when you've got to deal with some pretty tough adult roos, and throughout the course of six episodes we'll be finding out what life is really like for this rather dedicated surrogate dad.
That said, the series looks utterly magical so here are six adorable reasons you won't want to miss it:
1. It features lots and lots of baby kangaroos like this one
2. There are baby kangaroos like this pair in incubators, as featured in the original documentary
3. Baby kangaroos will be bottle fed like this.
4. You will see that kangaroos look lovely even while they're sleeping
5. Or even possibly find them eating carrots from their adoptive dad's hands
6. And if these baby kangaroos in a bag don't get you, we honestly don't know what will
Of course, we can't forget that the series sends a pretty serious message too, as Chris reveals all about the natural and human threats that Aussie kangaroos face in the wild. So, while it is jam packed with these cuddly looking little lads and lasses, be sure to brace yourselves for a few reality checks.
Catch Kangaroo Dundee at 8.30pm on BBC One this Friday, November 29th.
