Poor Katy has been trapped in that weird little bunker for an age now, and she, like us, have no idea who her captor is or why he has her there. Fair City fans will be happy to hear though that viewers will soon see just who has kidnapped Katy, and even his motive behind it. We can't give you too many specifics, but we would advice you to stay tuned to the events of Carrigstown next week...
So who do you think it could be? Well the good folk of RTE have narrowed it down to five suspects for us, and have even provided some possible motives for each of them which you can read below.
Let us know in the poll at the bottom who you think it is!
Suspect 1: Cathal Spillane
Cathal arrived on screen last and it was clear from the start that he was bad news. He took over the management of the Baillintine hotel as a front for his family’s shady dealings. Within no time Cathal started to manipulate and intimidate the staff in the hotel including Debbie. In November last year it materialised that Cathal was the son of one of Carrigstown's notorious thugs - Flynn. Debbie quickly grew suspicious that they were using the hotel as a front to cover their illegal business. When Debbie threatened to expose what they were doing, Cathal took her hostage and locked her in the basement of the hotel. Debbie was eventually rescued by Michael and Eoghan but Cathal managed to escape. Now Cathal is back in Carrigstown and is intent of getting revenge on the O'Brien's. With Flynn dead, Cathal has an axe to grind and wants to destroy the O'Brien family. Could kidnapping Katy be the perfect revenge?
Suspect 2: Oisin Brennan
One half of Carrigstown's Bonnie and Clyde alongside Charlotte Bishop. Oisin arrived on screen in March this year and while his arrival may have appeared innocent, it wasn’t long before we realised that Oisin was not all he seemed. He has a real sense of entitlement and will do anything to get what he wants. We saw more of a sinister side to Oisin earlier this year when he and Charlotte set their sights on tormenting Jane Black. Believing that Jane told Paul about their underground parties in the Pod they set about getting their own back on her.
They set up a fake dating profile and pursued Jane online. They took things a step further when they followed Jane through the park and again when they stole her keys and let themselves into her apartment, moving her things about. It came to a head one evening when Jane arrived home to find Oisin in her apartment wearing a balaclava.
When Katy went missing the Guards immediately became suspicious of Oisin as he had sent a text to Katy’s phone the night of her date with Stella and was in the pub the night she disappeared. While they were unable to pin her disappearance on Oisin, they still weren't convinced of his involvement.
Suspect 3: Tommy Dillon
Simply put - Tommy has form! Last year while going out with Jane, Tommy embarked on a campaign of torment against his ex-wife Judith– including breaking into her flat, sending her poison pen letters and making anonymous phone calls as his stalking spiralled out of control. Tommy became obsessed with Judith and her relationship with Bob. He couldn't cope with her being with another man, despite the fact that he cheated on her on numerous occasions himself. He went so far as to set up hidden cameras in her apartment and watched her every move for weeks. Eventually when Jane realised what he was up to he ended up holding Judith and Bob at gun point in Judith’s apartment and shooting Bob.
Just before she went missing, Katy found out about Tommy and Debbie’s affair and threatened to tell Eoghan about everything if he didn’t end it. Could Tommy have kidnapped Katy to stop the truth getting about him and Debbie?
Suspect 4: Ciaran Holloway
Ciaran turned up in Carrigstown out of the blue. To date we don’t really know a huge amount about Ciaran’s background; where he came from or how he ended up in Carrigstown. After he arrived he befriended Emmet O’Brien and through their friendship he has slowly integrated himself into the O’Brien family and supported them through Katy’s disappearance. Over the last few months he has become a confidant for each member of the family and has stepped up to support Eoghan, Debbie and Rose – when Emmet has failed to do so. He is a bit of a dark horse and doesn’t let anyone get too close. Could he be hiding something behind it all?
Suspect 5: Stella Lyons
Just before Katy disappeared, Stella and Katy went on a couple of dates. All seemed to be going well until Katy questioned Stella on why she left Facebook. After doing some research on Stella, Katy found out that she was involved in a stabbing a few years back. Katy isn’t sure what her involvement was but wants to find out more. That evening Stella texts Katy that she is in the Station and Katy goes to meet her. However, Stella is not impressed when she finds out that Katy was hoping for a story and she gets annoyed and leaves. Katy arranges to meet Stella again and confronts her about her past – which Stella is not happy about. Katy tries again with Stella and confides in her about Tommy and Debbie’s affair. Katy decides to leave for Galway shortly afterwards – could Stella know something about her disappearance?
