The Emmy-winning TV series drops its first look at what's to come for the young adults during this sophomore season; and it looks as irresponsible as ever.
Maybe that's down to Zendaya's character Rue dancing her way through her house to Frank Sinatra’s 'Call Me Irresponsible', or maybe it's because debauchery is certainly on the agenda. Last night, HBO dropped the first 'Euphoria' season two teaser trailer ahead of the season's premiere in January.
The compelling first season, which saw Zendaya become the youngest-ever Emmy winner for a Lead Actress back in 2020, was praised by critics for its raw subject matter around drugs and alcohol, as well as how cinematic it all looked. Add to that a great cast and a killer soundtrack, and 'Euphoria' achieved a pretty incredible and memorable status amongst TV viewers.
Season one was made up of eight episodes with two holiday specials that were later released. They both focussed on Rue and Jules (Hunter Schafer) complicated relationship; last we saw of the pair of them, they wished each other a very frosty "Happy Christmas" following their break-up.
Judging from the teaser released below, season two of the drama will focus on how the teens begin to lose touch with one another. Rue's voiceover says: "When you’re younger, everything feels so permanent. But as you get older, you begin to realize nothing is and everyone you love could drift away."
Earlier this year, series creator Sam Levinson remained hopeful that the sophomore season would arrive by the end of 2021. But hey, at least we now have something to look forward to watching in January.
Here's the 'Euphoria' season two teaser.
'Euphoria' season two hits HBO Max on January 9. The series begins on Sky Atlantic and NOW on January 10.
Season one is available to watch via Sky TV and NOW.
