Actor Asan N'jie, who played Ellis Chapman on 'Emmerdale', has been fired from the soap following a bust-up at an awards ceremony on Monday.
The young actor - who was nominated for an award on the night - was captured on video threatening to 'kill' and 'knife' 'Hollyoaks' star Jamie Lomas as the pair were involved in a brief scuffle at the ceremony.
He is heard shouting "Do you think you are a f***ing big man? I’m going to f***ing kill you."
Friends, including 'Hollyoaks' actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer, intervened between the pair and N'jie was ejected from the TV Choice Awards by security.
A spokesperson for ITV confirmed that he had been sacked from the show. "Emmerdale suspended Asan N'Jie pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night," it read. "ITV executives have met with him and as a consequence Asan's contract has been terminated with immediate effect."
The Sun reports that their argument was related to a friend of N'jie's, also an unnamed 'Emmerdale' actor, who was in a financial dispute with Lomas, who also runs an acting school and reportedly got him the job on the long-running soap.
He issued a statement of his own, apologising for his actions. "My behaviour at the TV Choice awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character," he said. "I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice awards.
"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."
