It's been a pretty big year for the folks at Emmerdale as the soap pulled streets ahead of EastEnders in the ratings so we're sure they'll be sorry to say goodbye to one of their most popular characters next year.

As per Digital Spy, Gemma Oaten aka Rachel Brooks will be bowing out next year, but details of her exit storyline are highly secretive. It's understood that Rachel won't go quietly though, leaving the soap after her character has a pretty turbulent time on screen.
Rachel's been a pretty lively addition to the village and has caused her fair share of drama since arriving in the Dales in the summer of 2011. And of course, we can't be forgetting that lovely family of hers either now, can we?
Will there be more drama between herself, Jai, Charity and Sam? After all, the former Miss Dingle still doesn't know that Jai is Rachel's baby daddy... However, that's all set to come to a head next month, so who knows how she'll leave the Dales in the end?
