Spin-offs are a common enough occurrence in TV Land. Frasier was a spin-off of Cheers, Better Call Saul was a spin-off of Breaking Bad, Joey was a spin-off of Friends. And so on.
Now it looks like Eastenders is getting a spin-off too. A six-part miniseries is being commissioned by the BBC that will focus on Alfie and Kat Moon.
What's more, the series will be set in Ireland. The new spin-off will see Alfie and Kat here in the country "searching for answers" to something we guess will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Exec producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said that "in the next few weeks on Eastenders, viewers will witness huge twists for Kat and Alfie Moon that will change their lives forever."
"My team here are very excited about creating a whole new drama that stands apart from EastEnders while taking our style of storytelling to a place of stories, myth, secrets and immeasurable beauty."
Look, we're just putting this out there now. Three words - Fair City crossover.
Think about it. Alfie and Kat Moon turn up in Carrigstown and cause hassle for everyone there. It'll be amazing.
