We may not be able to march for equality this weekend, but at least there was some love shared by one Dublin school for Pride Month.
This weekend is normally reserved for the Dublin Pride parade and numerous others across the country - but this year the event has gone virtual due to current restrictions. But that didn't stop one Dublin school from creating a Pride Parade of their own.
During the week, Glasnevin Education Together National School in Dublin put on their own Pride parade in honour of the LGBTQ+ community in Ireland. As you can see in the video below, the school was decked out in rainbow colours and flags with heartfelt messages of equality, and the children also dressed up in wonderfully bright coloured clothes.
The news report was conducted by Mícheál Ó Scannáil as part of the RTÉ children's news broadcast, 'news2day'. As well as capturing the moment the children gathered to celebrate, a number of them were interviewed, who spoke about what it means for them to be part of the parade.
One well-spoken boy said what Pride meant to him: "To me, Pride is something that brings people together and helps others understand that it isn't wrong to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. It's also a time for people to be themselves and not to hide."
