We've heard just about everything when it comes to telly these days, but Channel 4's latest venture is definitely err, out of this world. Y'see they're on the hunt for real-life superheroes, and no, not the ones who climb buildings or take Comic-Con a bit too seriously.
The big bosses at C4 HQ have just commissioned a brand new series which will see Simon Farnaby (who you might remember from The King Under the Car Park) head off around the world, hunting for people with extraordinary abilities. Don't worry, he won't be trying to crack their skulls open ala Zachary Quinto in his Heroes days. In fact, he's hoping this lot will live long and prosper... *tumbleweed*
Simon's been a wee bit obsessed with superheroes since a rather young age, and says his childhood dream was to come face to face with one. Now he's willing to traverse the globe, seeking out men, women and children who believe they possess superhuman powers. We're guessing they've chucked in 'believe' as a wee bit of a disclaimer there... Y'know, just in case.
Miracle Hunter (that's just the show's working title by the by) will feature magnetic boys in Croatia and Serbia’s million volt "Human battery". We're told to expect death defying stunts and feats of extreme human endurance in the three-part series, which will ask if there are real-life heroes living among us, with skills that defy scientific explanation. Y'know, like Hayden Panettiere's immortal cheerleader?
Sounds like someone's been watching the Heroes box-set again...
