Like a lot of Stephen King's work, the ending of 'Castle Rock' might not come as a shock to anyone who's been paying attention.
With the ending of Season 2 over a year ago and radio silence from the show since then, it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that things weren't looking particularly rosy for it. The show launched in 2018 with a lot of fanfare, riding on the success of new adaptations of 'It' and 'Pet Sematary', and a starry cast that included Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgard (who funnily enough played Pennywise in 'It'), and Scott Glenn.
The idea was the various characters from King's work would pop up together, as the fictional town has been a fixture in a lot of his work. While the show did have a lot of fanfare and some decent reviews, the pandemic has been cited as one of the reasons behind its cancellation.
Still, it's not all bad news for Stephen King fans. 'The Stand', 'Mr. Mercedes', as well as a prequel series based on 'The Shining' are all still in the pipeline, as is a second season of 'The Outsider' on HBO.
