With Breaking Bad closing in on its final episode - we're just 100 hours way, people - everybody on the show are hard at work lining up their next project. Those rumours about Bryan Cranston signing on to play Lex Luthor in the Superman / Batman sequel refuse to go away and the trailer for Aaron Paul's next film, Need For Speed, dropped late last night. Well, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan isn't resting on his laurels following his Emmy win.
Gilligan will be working with David Shore, the showrunner behind Fox's House and will also have fellow Breaking Bad producer Mark Johnson working with him as well. It's early days yet and there's no word on casting for the series, but they did release a brief synopsis on what Battle Creek is all about. Set in the town of Battle Creek, Michigan, two police detectives are working with limited resources against an FBI agent who's lauded as a "crime-fighter" when he's anything but.
It has a certain smell of The Wire off it, and what's more, the pilot episode's script has been doing the rounds for almost ten years. The show was initially written about ten years and was passed on by CBS. It never moved on to any other station from there as Gilligan and co. moved on with Breaking Bad. Battle Creek is getting 13 episodes straight off the bat, which is a testament to just how popular Bad is and the power Gilligan has to dictate terms from now on.
