It's been proving quite the hit in the USA so it's no surprise to hear that Catfish: The TV Show will be winging its way to our side of the Atlantic very soon.
The MTV series, which is based on the 2010 documentary film of the same name, sees the film's star Yaniv Schulman and his buddy Max Joseph teaming up with online daters from the four corners of America to help couple make contact and meet in real-life for the first time.
Needless to say, as Schulman learned in the original movie, things don't always go to plan. Some couples are lucky enough to get a happy ending, while others are left wondering who on earth they've been sharing intimate thoughts and details with for the past God knows how long...
Broadcast says that Renegade Pictures have now picked up the format and will produce a trial episode for the UK version of the show. They still haven't managed to secure a host (we think Paddy McGuinness would be just perfect, such a subtle lad would work wonders with sensitive situations) or get any willing participants on board though, so it could be a while before it hits television screens.
Sure you never know, we might even get an Irish version at this rate. We can totally see Daithi O'Se helming that one.
