Zoe Kravitz, who would be renowned for her roles in hit HBO series ‘Big Little Lies’ as well as ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and ‘X-Men: First Class’, is going to headline the ‘High Fidelity’ TV adaptation that nobody asked for.
Interestingly, Kravitz’ mother Lisa Bonet starred in the film version playing musician Marie De Salle opposite John Cusack.
The Touchstone movie saw Cusack play a record shop owner who finds himself looking back at the loves of his life following a breakup.
The new TV series is written by Veronica West and Sarah Kuckserka (‘State of Affairs’, ‘Ugly Betty’) and inspired by Nick Hornby’s novel and the 2000 cult classic.
The show reimagines the story from a female perspective as it centres on the love life of a record store owner who’s obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists. Kravitz will executive produce as well as play the lead.
The ten-episode order will be available via Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service which is scheduled to launch in late 2019. It is thus expected to have a more family friendly tone than the R rated original.
Zoe Kravitz will next be seen on the big screen in ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’, and will also star in the second season of ‘Big Little Lies’.
