You could say he's defending Jerry, but really he's just irked by their collective ejection from prime time viewing of a Saturday after a mere two week's screen time. Not to worry, Anton, there's always Hole In The Wall. Had it not been axed...
Speaking to The Sun, Du Beke said: "Jerry danced really well on Saturday night but the improvement she made wasn't reflected in her marks from the judges. Their comments were heavily weighted towards her posture - which does need work - and not the way she actually moved on the dancefloor. The show is called Strictly Come Dancing, so you would have thought that side of things would have been considered - but apparently not... I'm not saying Jerry went from beginner to fabulous in a week but there was an improvement and I had hoped the marks would improve. There were no gimmicks to our routine, I didn't swing her in or drag her across the floor (*doffs cap at Mrs Widdicombe*). We did a proper dance with depth and Jerry was quite capable. She is a super lady and I'm sad we will not get to spend more time together. I have no idea why people didn't pick up the phone and vote for Jerry."
Because the papers were heaving with reports of her boasting she was only doing the absolute minimum amount of rehearsal stipulated in her contract? Just a thought.
