Game of Thrones casting speculation always leads to huge levels of excitement but none more so than earlier this week when rumours surfaced that the legend that is Angela Lansbury might be joining the show for its seventh season.
It was German publication Bild that first reported the story that the Murder, She Wrote star would be appearing in two season seven episodes.
However, Lansbury's reps have now commented on the story and dashed all of our hopes of Jessica Fletcher teaming up with Jon Snow to take the Iron Throne. They told Entertainment Weekly that the report in Bild is not accurate.
In fairness the rumour always did seem a bit outlandish and it's shame on us for letting ourselves get carried away. It was probably only given substance due to the fact that the show has acquired a whole host of respectable British actors in the past. Most recently, two time Oscar winner Jim Broadbent.
