The highly-acclaimed Amazon original series American Gods has been renewed for a second season.
American Gods is currently the most watched show in Ireland on Amazon’s international Prime Video service.
Based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name, the series stars Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Gillian Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, Pablo Schreiber and Yetide Badaki.
The first season of the show focussed on a war brewing between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Ex-con Shaow Moon (Whittle) is enlisted by Mr. Wednesday (McShane) as part of his cross-country mission. He aims to gather all the old gods, who have now incorporated themselves into American life, to confront the New Gods, who are growing in strength and number.
Tim Leslie, Vice President, International, Prime Video said: “We’re delighted to bring a second season of Neil Gaiman’s riveting story to fans across the globe.
“Audiences have responded overwhelmingly to season one – it is stunning entertainment unlike anything else and we can’t wait for the next series.”
