It wasn't so long ago that we were chuckling along with Alec Baldwin as we waved buh-bye to himself and Tina Fey in the 30 Rock finale, but it already looks like the veteran actor has well and truly landed on his feet, because he's only being lined up for his own talk show, apparently.
E!News says NBC has been chatting to Alec about the possibility of him taking over the slot that's currently occupied by Carson Daly's Last Call. And why? Well, because Alec makes these little podcasts of interviews with some famous folk, and NBC absolutely love them. 'Here's The Thing' features interviews with David Letterman, Billy Joel, Kristen Wiig and Chris Rock (which were all conducted away from the studio, often in the stars' apartments) which have all been aired on WNYC radio, and NBC are keen to strike while the iron is hot.
If the show goes ahead, it would see Alec heading out with a camera crew, to sit down for a chat with the stars in various locations. The New York Daily News says the format would work for the actor, as it would mean he could record a few installments in one day, and still have space in his schedule for other commitments.
The whole thing is part of a major shake-up over at NBC. What with Jimmy Fallon moving from Late Night to The Tonight Show once Jay Leno hangs up his hat, there's a whole lotta schedule shakin going on. As for Jimmy's replacement? Well, the US media are staking their bets on Seth Meyers, who you may have heard of if you're a big fan of Saturday Night Live.
It's all up in the air at the moment, but we're not quite sure how we'd take Alec seriously. We'll just have to wait and see what happens...
