Irish actress and comedian Aisling Bea appeared on the final episode in the series last night of The Great British Bake Off's Stand Up to Cancer's Celebrity Specials. She joined former Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher, TV presenter (and newly married) Alan Carr and Paralympian Kadeena Cox.

The four of them were all brilliant craic in fairness and got on like a house on fire and while it was Hatcher who got Star Baker, Kildare woman Aisling Bea proved the most entertaining and no doubt won a whole bunch of new fans.

For those of you unfamiliar with Aisling Bea, she is a regular on comedy panel shows in the UK and is formerly a winner of the Edinburgh Fringe So You Think You’re Funny Award back in 2012. As an actress she has starred in Sky One's comedy Trollied and has appeared in the likes of The Fall, Holby City, In With the Flynns and even made her acting debut in good old Fair City playing Cliodhna Norris back in 2009.

Back to Bake Off though, where Aisling Bea tried to impress with her Irish Stout muffins which earned herself a pinky finger shake from judge Paul Hollywood, as much as she tried to get a coveted handshake. Later on then she turned her hand to a LGBT themed rainbow cake which she described as a "lovingly made mess".

"I just hope the LGBT+ community don’t distance themselves from the project," she joked.
