The first image and trailer for 'Leonardo', starring Aidan Turner as the titular Italian artist, have landed online.
Aidan Turner would be best-known for 'Poldark', which wrapped up its fifth and final series last year.
The trailer for his latest dropped on the Renaissance artist's birthday.
'Leonardo' will air next year. A broadcaster for Irish and UK TV viewers has yet to be confirmed.
The series tells the story of da Vinci's life, from a young apprentice to one of the greatest painters of all time.
He was born on 15 April 1452, the illegitimate son of a lawyer in a rural town in Florence, Italy. Despite having no formal academic training, he's go on to excel in art, science, painting, engineering, and anatomy.
His Mona Lisa and The Last Supper are among the world's most popular paintings.
The TV series is created by 'X-Files' writer and producer Frank Spotnitz and 'Doctor Who' screenwriter Steve Thompson. Daniel Percival ('The Man in the High Castle') and Alexis Sweet direct.
The drama will also star Giancarlo Giannini as da Vinci's master and Matilda De Angelis as da Vinci's muse. Freddie Highmore ('The Good Doctor', 'Bates Motel') plays Stefano Giraldi, a young detective of the Podestà in charge of solving the central mystery.
