As well as Jeremy Renner and Diane Wiest leading the cast of Paramount+'s new series, we also catch a glimpse of Irish actor Aidan Gillen in what will no doubt be another antagonistic role for him.
Hailing from co-creator of drama series 'Yellowstone', Taylor Sheridan, and the director of 'Training Day', Antoine Fuqua, comes a crime thriller series which has caught our attention. Not only does 'Mayor of Kingstown' star Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner, but Aidan Gillen also makes a brief appearance in the first trailer to be released for the series.
The McLusky family are the main characters here, a family who run a small Michigan town and survives off of the business of incarceration. Renner, Dianne Wiest, Kyle Chandler and Taylor Handley all star as members of the family. According to Paramount+, we can expect: "Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither."
'Love/Hate' and 'Game of Thrones' star Aidan Gillen will also make an appearance, and as we can see in the trailer below, Gillen will play Milo Sunter, an inmate in prison. The Irish actor was recently announced as part of RTÉ's new crime/thriller 'Kin', which will be released soon. He also recently appeared in Angelina Jolie's newest movie 'Those Who Wish Me Dead', available on Apple TV.
Paramount+ is a new on demand service which launched earlier this year in North America and is expected to arrive in Ireland at some point in 2022.
Here's the trailer.
'Mayor of Kingstown' hits Paramount+ in North America on November 14. Hopefully, a TV channel or on demand platform will carry the series over on this side of the Atlantic later this year, or if not, we'll have to wait until 2022.
