Veteran actor and star of the seminal cult TV series Batman, Adam West, has died at the age of 88.
West was most famously known for playing Bruce Wayne / Batman in the '60s, and later had a career resurgence as playing a heightened version of himself in Family Guy. According to a statement released to media, West died peacefully surrounded by his family and is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
"Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero,” read the statement.
West passed away following a short battle with leukemia.
