If you're someone who has trouble sleeping, you may be already familiar with the 'Calm' app.
The app essentially lulls you to sleep with calming voices, soothing noises, some celebrities reading stories, and just generally mellows you out before bedtime. Seeing as how horrifying the world currently is at the moment, it should come as no surprise that the company is now valued at somewhere around $1 billion, and is now able to get its own TV show on HBO.
'A World of Calm', which is being produced for HBO Max, will see some very well-known actors - such as Mahershala Ali, Idris Elba, Oscar Isaac, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Lucy Liu, Cillian Murphy, and Keanu Reeves - narrating calming, soothing stories while you nod off.
According to the show's description, "(viewers) will be transported into tranquillity through scientifically engineered narratives, enchanting music and astounding footage to naturally calm the body and soothe the mind."
It makes a change from HBO's usual output of violent, sex-laden TV shows, but does this not sound like something Kramer from 'Seinfeld' would come up with? Or possibly a cutaway joke on '30 Rock', for that matter?
