Arguably one of the most iconic 80s TV shows, Magnum PI is getting a reboot.
Well perhaps reboot isn't the correct term to use. Rather the show is getting a sequel series to follow the daughter of Tom Selleck's central character.
For those not familiar with the original, it saw Selleck play Thomas Magnum, a Vietnam vet who retired from the Navy at 37 and became a private investigator in Hawaii where he lived in the villa of famous novelist Robin Masters. After eight seasons, the show ended with Magnum learning he has a daughter and rejoining the navy.
The series made Selleck a star but also cost him the role of Indiana Jones so we imagine Selleck had a love/hate relationship with it.
Lily "Tommy" Magnum will lead the reboot/sequel which will see her return to Hawaii to revive her father's PI firm.
There's no word yet on whether Selleck will cameo in the reboot but here's hoping he does if even just to get one more glimpse of him behind the wheel of that Ferrari.
