Lorelai and Rory are still our all time favourite TV mother/daughter duo, sure we petty much watched them grow up on screen. And yes we know Lorelai was a full blown adult from the start but she always seemed like a cool, older sister.
Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons until we all could no longer keep up with their fast paced conversations. Okay, that wasn't it, but man, those girls talked fast.
We also loved the 'will they/won't they' relationship between Lorelai and Luke that had us all glued for years, although fans were left disappointed that they didn't tie the knot in the end.
Actor Scott Patterson, who played Luke Danes on the show, has been doing the press rounds ahead of the upcoming Gilmore Girls reunion panel at the ATX Television Festival, and he told the Gilmore Guys podcast (yes, that exists) that he was pretty open to the idea of an on-screen reunion, and even said “there are talks going on at the moment.”
He added; “I can’t really go into any details, but there is some activity. I’m hopeful, and I’m in. I think it would be a big event, and I think it would be a great fan celebration.”
While he went on to say, that there had been “conversations” about a reunion and “maybe even a movie.”
He also said that he too was 'miffed' that Luke and Lorelai didn't get married in the end.... eh, well there's your movie script right there, no?
We're in. Maybe they can even get Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) back to play her bridesmaid! It's a role that's done her a lot of favours in the past after all...
And just for a perfect trip down memory lane, here's the opening credits of Gilmore Girls;
