Busy Bank Holiday? Then you may as well throw yourself down on that couch and relax this evening, because the week is only going to get busier what with Halloween drawing ever closer and the kids off school.
However, it isn't all bad news because there are some brilliant TV dramas winging their way to your TV screens as October draws to close. From Love/Hate to Arrow, Elementary to Veep, we've been spoiled for choice already, but here are just 5 of the best dramas to add to the list this week.
1. Ripper Street - October 28th, BBC One @ 9pm
Filmed in our own 'fair' capital city, this Victorian crime drama was a smash hit when it debuted on the BBC during the Christmas 2012 schedule. As we catch up with the lads the memory of Jack the Ripper is fading but the streets of east London are still as lawless as ever. When a sergeant from Limehouse's neighbouring district is hurled from a tenement window onto the iron railings below, Detective Insp Reid is quick to act - if the police are to be so publicly assaulted, how can they hope to keep order?
2. Dracula - October 31st, Sky Living @ 9pm
Our own Jonathan Rhys Meyers takes the lead in this new series, which sees the rather calculating Count arriving in London to pose as an American entrepreneur who just wants to teach the English a thing or two about modern science. Little do they know, he's actually hoping to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life a few centuries earlier. We've seen the first episode and think it's well worth a gander.
3. The Escape Artist - October 29th, BBC One @9pm
The BBC is throwing great new dramas at us this year so we're rather excited to see David Tennant, Sophie Okenedo and Ashley Jensen teaming up for this legal thriller. Tennant is Will Burton, a highly talented junior barrister who is in great demand, having never lost a case, much to the frustration of his courtroom rival Maggie Gardner. But when he successfully defends Liam Foyle, who was standing trial for a high-profile murder, he has reason to regret his peerless legal skills. For Foyle is a serial killer - and before long he is on the hunt for his next victim.
4. Betrayal - October 28th, RTE Two @ 10pm
We told you Stuart Townsend was still acting away over in the US of A and tonight his latest drama series hits our TV screens. Unhappily married photographer Sara Hanley begins a torrid affair with top lawyer Jack McAllister (Townsend) but when he turns out to be defending a murder suspect who is being prosecuted by her husband, the relationship and the case begin a spiraling series of betrayals with cataclysmic results. The reviews haven't exactly been glowing, but sure maybe it'll be more popular with Irish audiences...
5. Boardwalk Empire - November 2nd, Sky Atlantic @ 9pm
Ok so technically it's already back on our screens but just in case you missed it on Saturday night, we said we'd throw Boardwalk Empire on to this list. You just can't argue with a bit of Steve Buscemi, capiche?
