We all love a bit of homegrown drama here in Ireland (you need only look at how mad we are about Love/Hate to know that) but that doesn't mean we aren't partial to a bit of top notch TV from the other side of the Atlantic.
Over the past few months we've witnessed the return of old favourites like The Newsroom, Homeland and Glee, waved goodbye to our beloved Breaking Bad, and even welcomed newcomers like The Blacklist into the fold.
Believe it or not, we're actually not quite done just yet: There are still plenty of exciting shows heading our way. Here are just 5 deadly US offerings, due to return to our TV screens this month:
1. Chicago Fire, Sky Living HD, Wednesday October 16th at 9pm
A big hit on both sides of the Atlantic this drama about, you guessed it, a team of Chicago firefighters returns to Sky Living with a bang. We're expectin sparks to fly left right and centre as poor oul Casey returns to work after losing the missus. He'll always be Susan and Karl Kennedy's son from Neighbours in our eyes...
2. Veep, Sky Atlantic, Wednesday October 16th at 10.30pm
Season 1 was extraordinarily successful and with both Julia Louis Dreyfus and Tony Hale winning Emmys for their performances we're expecting big things from the gang as they return to that office that's not the Oval one. Sure you just can't go wrong with a bit of Armando Iannucci now can you?
3. Arrow, Sky 1 HD, Monday October 21st at 8pm
Oliver Queen's one mysterious fella and as if his return to Starling City last season didn't spell enough trouble for the billionaire playboy, he's back in action for another series of rip-roaring adventures. Season 2 marks his transformation from vigilante to hero as Oliver finally returns home after the devastation of The Undertaking. Seriously, does this las ever get a break?
4. Elementary, Sky Living, Tuesday October 22nd at 9pm
Ok so Jonny Lee Miller isn't Benedict Cumberbatch but that doesn't mean he doesn' bring a certain something to the role of Sherlock Holmes now, does it? Elementary's twists and turns went down an absolute storm, so we can't wait to see what Miller and Lucy Liu get up to when they head to London for the Season 2 opener. Keep yours eyes peeled for Rhys Ifans and Sean Pertwee in some pretty significant supporting roles...
5. Boardwalk Empire, Sky Atlantic, Saturday October 26th at 9pm
It's February 1924 in Atlantic City and after barely surviving an overthrow by gangster Gyp Rossetti, Nucky Thompson is laying low at the end of the Boardwalk. But the calm will be short-lived, as Nucky faces new challenges, including a clash with the mayor, a battle with his brother over his college-age son, and the irresistible lure of lucrative and perilous opportunities in Florida.
