Beth Fairchild (Annabel Scholey) feels like an outsider in the Kentish coastal village where her husband Tom (Jack Farthing) is the respected local doctor. Out of the blue, he is arrested in connection with the murder of a local woman then released due to a lack of evidence. The rumour mill whirs into overdrive and Beth tries to protect her family with the help of her husband's best friend, Adam (Luke Treadaway). More victims are linked to Tom and an increasingly distraught and paranoid Beth fears she has unknowingly married a serial predator.
