The Games kick off with a unique opening ceremony, which takes place away from the stadium in the heart of the French capital. More than 4,000 athletes from up to 184 delegations gather for a four-stage demonstration at Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysées in front of around 65,000 spectators.
