An angry Mancunian drifter flees his home city to avoid the family of a woman he raped. Seeking refuge with an old flame in London, he takes to wandering the capital's nocturnal streets, antagonising or enthralling those he meets with his embittered philosophy, and forcing them to question their existence. Mike Leigh's award-winning drama, starring David Thewlis, Lesley Sharp and Katrin Cartidge, with early performances by Gina McKee, Ewan Bremner and a brief appearance by Toby Jones.
