Group D looked one of the strongest on paper when the draw was made, and France and the Netherlands justified their status as favourites to progress with narrow victories over Austria and Poland respectively. Portugal, Turkiye, Czechia and Georgia are the nations in Group F, and picking a runner-up from those is hard to do, with Portugal starting as favourites to top the group. There were plenty of goals at this stage of the tournament three years ago, with only the match between Italy and Austria finishing goalless after 90 minutes, before the eventual champions edged to a 2-1 victory after extra time.
