A lot has been kept under wraps about what happens to these beloved characters. Here's what the synopsis for the season reads:

Piper struggles with life on the outside, while life in Max, as corrupt and unjust as ever, goes on without her. This is actually looking pretty likely. Lionsgate TV Group chairman Kevin Beggs has said; ['Orange is the New Black'] remains one of Netflix’s most-watched shows. We’re ending on a high note.
"Keep in mind we own that series and will be distributing it for years to come. We’re already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we’ll talk further with [writer] Jenji [Kohan] about a potential sequel."
