The mysterious case of Madeleine McCann is getting its own documentary series.

The disappearance of Madeleine McCann from a resort in the Algarve region of Portugal has always remained shrouded in mystery to the world.

The three-year-old went missing on the evening of May 3rd, 2007 while she and her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, were on holiday. And still to this day, the whereabouts of Madeleine remain unknown.

Netflix's new documentary series is set to set the record straight about that exactly happened to Madeleine on the night of her disappearance. However, the series has had a tumultuous journey. There has been opposition from the child’s family, as well as speculation that the makers of the doc failed to question key individuals who were involved around the case.

The full synopsis of the eight hour-long episodes is as follows:

'The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann' takes detailed look of the disappearance of 3-year-old Madeleine McCann who vanished from the seaside resort of Praia de Luz in Portugal, while on holiday with her family. It was a disappearance that reverberated around the world as the Portuguese police together with Scotland Yard mobilised a major investigation which would go on to become the most high-profile missing child case in British history.
