Bad news for followers of sci fi series ‘Stranger Things’ as they’ll be waiting longer than anticipated for the return of the show to Netflix for its third season.
Fans were hoping to be venturing back into the Upside Down for the third time this Halloween (just as season 2 launched around then), but it looks like the show has been delayed until summer 2019.
Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content, Cindy Holland, explained that the creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers, “want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year.”
Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday, Holland explained: “It’s a hand-crafted show.
“You know, the Duffer Brothers and [director] Shawn Levy have worked really hard and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so, they really want to take the time to get it right. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season, it will be worth the wait.”
Holland also noted that the upcoming series will have many more special effects than the previous two. “It’s a really exciting season, just takes a little more time,” she said.
