Ah, Netflix. Such a vast catalogue can be overwhelming at times, and often it can seem unsettling to give up your valuable time and commit to a series. Luckily for you, we've chosen some of the best originals that are on offer.
So, whether you're in the mood for a good laugh, cry, or scream of terror, we've compiled the best original series on Netflix that you are going to love. Here's our favourites.
It's up to US space commander Emma Green (Hilary Swank) to lead her international team of five on a three-year-long journey, to be the first people to successfully land on Mars. The series is packed full of sci-fi elements (space travel, generally), but also has the hook of being such an emotionally powerful series that you will instantly fall in love with it. But will the team survive their expedition and warrant a second season? You'll have to tune in to find out...
'Sex Education' is one of Netflix's most refreshing takes on the typical coming-of-age story. Sex - everyone does it - and the series aims to break down those pesky barriers, and show that there's no need to feel shame or guilt about giving into whatever desires that make you happy. Gillian Anderson steals the show as sex therapist Dr Jean F. Milburn, and we cannot recommend the series enough. Netflix recently announced that a third season is already in the works.
'You' is the type of trashy drama that sucks you in, and doesn't let you go until you've seen every single minute of it. The series stars Penn Badgely from 'Gossip Girl' as a man whose obsession with women turns him into a guy with a killer instinct... You'll power through the first two series of this in no time - and yes, a third season is on the way.
Fed up of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'? Then get stuck into 'Selling Sunset'. The reality series has three seasons available on Netflix, and the luxurious lifestyle of LA has never looked so... luxurious? Expect to see incredible deals be dealt, as well as a memorable cast to make sure there's enough drama to keep you entertained for all 24 episodes.
'Narcos' and 'Narcos: Mexico'
This crime drama series is set in Columbia, and is based on the notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escabar's drug empire - think of it as like a South American version of 'Breaking Bad'. With three seasons of 'Narcos' available, as well as two seasons of its follow-up 'Narcos: Mexico', it's one of the best original series on Netflix.
With three seasons under its wings, its about time you checked out 'Big Mouth' on Netflix. The animation series provides enough laugh-out-loud moments to keep you entertained, as the kids try to make it through high school as they begin to understand the inner workings of puberty with a capital "P". The hormone monsters, voiced by Nick Kroll and Maya Rudolf, steal the show.
'Hollywood' takes place during a post-war 1940's America, a time when the movie industry was booming, and white male privilege was at the forefront of the era. Serving as a "What If..." moment in history, this is a mostly fabricated ideology created by the brilliant Ryan Murphy. There have been talks of a second season, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Grab your best hennys for a night in with your five favourite gay men, and get ready to feel every emotion under the sun as you watch the series. 'Queer Eye' is the epitome of feel-good Netflix viewing, as the fabulous five travel across America changing the lives of men and women who may need that extra boost in order to be their true selves. Their spin-off 'Queer Eye: We're In Japan' is also a hoot.
