Netflix original 'Lost In Space' has been given one more series of The Robinson family's adventures in space.

Less than three months since the launch of season two, Netflix's 'Lost In Space' has been renewed for one more expedition. The next instalment is expected to debut in 2021, and unfortunately for fans, it'll also be the series' last.

Three seasons of the space family is all that Netflix is giving The Robinsons, which stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, and Brian Steele. In case you're not already aware, the series is a remake of Irwin Allen's series which aired during the 1990's, also running for just three seasons. William Hurt, Gary Oldman, Matt LeBlanc, Heather Graham, and Mimi Rogers all starred in the original family adventure.

Netflix's 'Lost In Space' showrunner Zazk Estrin said of the renewal news: "From the beginning, we’ve always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy. A three-part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end. It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission — it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith… and The Robot. And, of course, Debbie the Chicken. So while this chapter of 'Lost In Space' is coming to a rousing conclusion, I’m excited about continuing to explore new stories with my friends at Netflix, and for all of the incredible possibilities that lie ahead."

Although Estrin's series is coming to an end, the producer has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix, which is exciting news. The creator is certainly one to watch, as he played a hand in some of our favourite TV shows such as 'Charmed', 'Prison Break', and 'Dawson's Creek'. Watch this space... let's see what he can put his hand to next.
