Netflix is currently testing out a new 'Ultra' tier service on some accounts across Europe this week.

CNET has reported that Netflix is offering the new tier at a price of €16.99 a month to new users in certain countries, whilst the current 'Premium' tier is set at €13.99. As to what's on offer on the 'Ultra' tier, it looks pretty much like what you'd expect for that amount of money per month.

A breakdown obtained by Cordcutting.com has it that the 'Ultra' tier gets you HD, HDR and Ultra HD-quality content and a total of four screens you can watch it on at the same time. Currently, the 'Standard' tier €10.99 allows for two whilst the 'Premium' also allows for 4, but doesn't have HDR-quality.

In terms of the actual movies and TV shows on offer for Netflix, it's all the same whether you're on the 'Basic' or 'Ultra' tier. So, really, you've got to ask what's the point in it beyond seeing your favourite TV shows in ultra-high definition?

Netflix said in a statement to entertainment.ie: "We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time. In this case, we are testing slightly different price points and features to better understand how consumers value Netflix. Not everyone will see this test and we may not ever offer specific elements included in the test to our members."
