The second season of Netflix's popular royal drama The Crown saw the cast finish up in their respective roles as the series moves on to older versions of their characters. We already know that Olivia Colman is set to take the reins from Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth and now its emerged who will likely play the monarch's sister, Princess Margaret.

The Evening Standard reports it's "all but confirmed" that it will be Helena Bonham Carter taking over the role from Vanessa Kirby for the next two seasons. The Oscar nominee was actually previously tipped to take over as Queen Elizabeth prior to Colman being announced.

It won't be either woman's first role as royalty with both previously playing the Queen Mum - Olivia Colman in Hyde Park on Hudson and Bonham Carter in The King's Speech.

As we said, it has yet to be officially announced but we reckon it might just be the perfect choice.

Speaking about his decision to recast roles, the show's creator Peter Morgan previously told Variety: "You can’t ask someone to act middle-aged. Someone has to bring their own fatigue to it. The feelings we all have as 50-year-olds are different than the feelings we all have as 30-year-olds."
