John Boyega, who most recently starred in Steve McQueen's excellent 'Small Axe' miniseries, is teaming up with Robert DeNiro for a new heist thriller that looks like it's taking a few leafs from 'Drive'.
'The Formula' sees Boyega play a former Formula One driver (obviously that's where the movie title comes from) who is forced into becoming a getaway driver in order to save the only family he's got left. Like we said, it's basically the plot of 'Drive' with a few changes. DeNiro plays Boyega's mentor who had - wouldn't you know it - old mob ties.
Anyway, the movie is set to land on Netflix at an unspecified date, with 'The First Purge' director Gerard McMurray working behind the camera as well as penning the screenplay. Here's McMurray's post on Instagram announcing the movie.
