While you might initially think of that live-action version of 'Ghost In The Shell' with Scarlett Johansson, the original animated movie and series it spawned from were groundbreaking.

'The Matrix', 'Ex Machina', even Steven Spielberg praised the original anime as "one of (his) favourite stories" and cited it as an influence on 'A.I: Artificial Intelligence'. Anyway, Netflix have recently announced that they're pumping a huge amount of money into anime and have announced a new series of 'Ghost In The Shell' for 2020.

'Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045' will be directed by 'Appleseed' creator Shinji Aramaki and 'Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex' director Kenji Kamiyama, who are also working on the US live-action remake of 'Attack On Titan' with 'It' director Andy Muscietti.

Plot details are light on 'Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045', but honestly, anything we'd write down in text wouldn't make a bit of sense. The movie itself and the series were suuuuuper complex and really, really weird - but also really, really good.
