Taika Waititi, the director of 'Jojo Rabbit', 'Thor: Ragnarok', and an all-round cool guy, has been confirmed to direct two new series based on classic children's novels from Roald Dahl.

Netflix have today released information on Taika Waititi and Roald Dahl becoming meshed together and creating two brand new original series for Netflix. In what is likely to be a match made in literary heaven, the director will be adapting 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' into an animated series, as well a completely new original take on Willy Wonka's helpers, the Oompa-Loompas.

Hailing from Loompaland, and never quite achieving as much screentime as they truly deserved, the Ooma-Loompas will be the main focus of his second series, which will also be an animation.

Even more excitedly, Netflix have teased that these two series are just the beginning of their new collaboration with the classic children's novelist. According to their tweet below, we're going to get an animated version of 'The Twits', 'Matilda', 'The BFG' and many more entries over the coming years. Expect to hear who will be tackling these other childhood stories in the very near future.

Taika Waititi and Roald Dahl seem like an incredible combination that, as soon as you ponder the thought, just work effortlessly together. Waititi's ability to create memorable moments with lashings of humour, together with plenty of heart are his speciality.

Let's just hope he can do the source material a better justice than Tim Burton's creepy reboot.

In case you've forgotten, here's a supercut of the original movie version of the Oompa-Loompas singing that song we all know and love.
