The character of Cassian Andor will return to our screens in a prequel series based on 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story', and he's bringing some friends along with him.

The forthcoming Disney+ series 'Star Wars: Andor' has finished shooting, and the main star has dropped some hints as to who might be making some special appearances during its 12 episode run.

Mexican actor Diego Luna will be reprising his role as Cassian Andor, who in 'Rogue One' was an officer and pilot for the Rebel Alliance. This time around, the star is back in for a storyline that places his character five years before the events of the movie, and he's also on board as an executive producer on the project.

Speaking with Deadline following the production wrapping in the UK this month, Luna teased: "You’ll definitely see familiar faces. I can tell you about this project like no other because I can’t spoil the ending if you’ve seen ['Stars Wars: Rogue One'] already. No matter what I say, I can’t ruin the ending."

He continued: "To be honest, it’s been such a blessing to do this job and to do it under these circumstances. I had the chance to work with a team that I couldn’t be more proud of and admire more. It’s a hard-core moment to be out there shooting, and we were really lucky. We’re done with the shooting now and getting it ready for audiences to see it.

"While I can’t say much, what I can tell you is that the experience was literally a transformation for me. It’s something that I really wanted to do and that I thought I was not going to be able to do. I’m more than happy."

Joining Diego Luna for 'Star Wars: Andor' will be some Irish faces in Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough and Genevieve O'Reilly, who will be reprising her role as Mon Mothma. Stellan Skarsgård and Forest Whitaker will also star, with the latter returning as Saw Gerrera.

'Star Wars: Andor' is expected to release on Disney+ in 2022.
