Saint Patrick is getting a one-off documentary on Netflix this March.

If you're feeling hard done by about the St. Patrick's Day parades in Dublin and Cork being cancelled this year, there is another way for you to get your slice of the bank holiday action from your own home. A Saint Patrick Netflix docudrama, entitled 'I Am Patrick', will be available this week, and will tell the true story about our most famous of saints.

Peeling back the centuries of legend and myth through historical re-enactments, expert interviews and Patrick's own writings, we'll be able to experience the journey of the man as he goes from young man to Ireland's patron saint.

We've all learnt the story of Saint Patrick growing up in school - but the docudrama is set to tell the real story of the English immigrant, with extra information that we might never have been told, and possibly set the record straight on many theories involved in his journey.

'I Am Patrick' will see Patrick travel from Britain across the water to Ireland when he was kidnapped by pirates during the 5th century. The docudrama will chart his story as he manages to escape from his captors, change his faith, go against his families' wishes, as well as the discovery of one of his darkest secret.

The historical docudrama stars John Rhys-Davies who played the voice of Treebeard in 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, and Irish actor Moe Dunford, who you'll know from playing Aethelwulf in 'Vikings', will narrate the one-off.

'I Am Patrick'  will premiere on Netflix in Ireland this Thursday, March 12th.
