There's a new edition of 'A Christmas Carol' coming to our screens - and we'd be lying if we said that we weren't excited.

'A Christmas Carol' has time and time again been given a newer version every few years or so. Inspired by the Charles Dickens classic story, there has been a Muppets version (clearly the best), Bill Murray's 'Scrooged', a Jim Carey animation, and even a Mickey Mouse version. And this is just from the past 30 or so years.

Now, however, there is a new musical version of the story in early stages of development, and it's got one hell of a cast attached to it. Hopefully, this cast will breathe new life into a story that may seem a little bit stale in 2021.

Lined up for Apple TV+'s adaptation called 'Spirited' are Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer. Reynolds is lined up to play a character heavily influenced by Ebenezer Scrooge.

According to Collider, Ferrell has been cast as the first Ghost os Christmas Part, AKA the Santa spirit. Spencer is expected to play a character who works alongside Reynolds' Scrooge.

With three big names attached to it, this version is sure to be a hit with audiences, regardless if its a story we've seen play out countless times before. And it's also Will Ferrell back in a Christmas movie, so hey, we're on board.

The movie will be directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, who were both involved in 'Instant Family' and also 'Daddy’s Home' and its sequel.

Here's a snippet of one of the greatest versions of the story for you - 'The Muppets Christmas Carol'.
