Great news for fans of 'After Life' and for fans of Ricky Gervais in general.

Ricky Gervais has brought us such TV classics as 'The Office', 'Extras', 'Derek' and, his most recent hit, 'After Life'.

Most of his shows have enjoyed at least a stint on, if not a permanent home on Netflix (Ireland and the UK). His 2018 stand-up show 'Humanity' also has residence on the streaming service, as does his comedy feature 'Special Correspondents'. He recently narrated their family animation 'The Willoughbys'.

Thus this latest just makes sense.

The comedian, actor, writer and producer is expanding his relationship with Netflix by signing an overall multi-year deal with the streamer.

He'll be developing new scripted and stand-up specials for the service under the agreement.

The deal includes a renewal of 'After Life', which has proven a high point in Gervais' career, for a third season. The second season on April 24th earned just as many rave reviews as the first series.

Gervais told THR of the deal: "I was planning to retire soon and just wander around the house drunk until I die.

"But I’ve grown a bit tired of doing that during the lockdown. And also Netflix made me an offer I couldn’t refuse."

'After Life', which follows Tony's struggles in the aftermath of his wife dying of cancer, is on Netflix now.
