Aaron Sorkin - the writer of 'The West Wing' and 'The Social Network' - returns with his first Netflix original film.

Written and directed by Academy Award-winner Aaron Sorkin (for Best Adapted Screenplay 'The Social Network') comes an adaptation of one incredible real-life story. 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' stars Sacha Baron Cohen as social activist Abbie Hoffman, who was one of the organisers of a peaceful Chicago protest that turned into a violent clash in 1968.

During the 1968 Democratic National Convention, the protest was created as an anti-war, primarily anti-Vietnam War, stand. The US President at the time was Lyndon B. Johnson, and the brutal protest resulted in Hoffman and The Chicago Seven being charged with conspiracy to incite a riot. The fallout of this was a trial that has become one of the most notorious in US history.

Joining the A-lister cast is Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Richard Schultz, Eddie Redmayne as Tom Hayden, Michael Keaton as Ramsey Clark, as well as Frank Langella, Mark Rylance, Jeremy Strong, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, John Carroll Lynch, and Alex Sharp.

Here's the teaser for the movie:

'The Trial of the Chicago 7' will become available on Netflix from October 16.
