The cutest coming-of-age series to land on the streaming service has been getting rave reviews and plenty of attention online.
In case you needed confirmation, the reaction to 'Heartstopper' on Twitter has been overwhelmingly positive, living up to fans' expectations. *SPOILERS BELOW*
The series, based on the very popular webcomic series by Alice Oseman, brings the hectic lives of happy-go-lucky Charlie (Joe Locke) and rugby-loving Nick (Kit Connor) to life. When the pair of students are forced to sit together in class, they discover that there's a spark between them, something that both of the teens wish to explore. But this is high school life, after all, so not everything is as plain sailing as one might hope.
Launching on Netflix this past weekend, the eight-part series has been rising up the viewer charts, currently in the Top 10 list of TV shows in Ireland (the official statistics haven't been revealed just yet). Due to its concrete fanbase already in place, and the series living up to expectations, viewers have already been calling for a second series just days after its launch.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the first series already has a near-perfect rating from both critics and audiences. Even us here at entertainment.ie loved the series, awarding it 4.5 stars out of five, saying: "'Heartstopper' is a refreshing, calming and beautiful series that's bursting full of heart and wonder."
It was a tightly kept secret until launch day on Friday, but it's well-known now that Olivia Colman stars in the series as Nick's mum Sarah. She doesn't feature much, but we'll watch anything with the Oscar-winner, especially when she's a supportive mum.
Here are some of the overwhelmingly positive reactions to 'Heartstopper' on Netflix so far. It even caused some viewers to come out to their parents, which is just wonderful to hear.
This tweet translates to: "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KEEP LIVING NOW WITHOUT A NICK NELSON IN MY LIFE."
Plus, here's a thread of the books read by Charlie's friend Isaac (Tobie Donovan).
